History of ALA:

The Association of Legal Administrators ("ALA") was formed in 1971 to provide support to professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies. The primary purpose of the association is to improve the quality of management in legal services, promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of legal administrators, develop and promote educational programs in all aspects of legal practice management and educate the legal profession about the value and availability of legal administrators. Today, ALA provides educational opportunities and services to about 10,000 members representing more than 6,000 employers in 27 countries.

Fort Worth Chapter:

The Fort Worth Chapter Association of Legal Administrators was chartered in 1987 to provide a forum for management professionals. The goals of the chapter are to provide meaningful educational programming and support for its members and to represent professional legal management to the legal community at large. Through better management and support, administrators and attorneys can work together to provide quality services while maximizing profits for their firms.

Programs:

Monthly luncheons offer chapter members the opportunity to exchange ideas regarding administration and management problems unique to the legal organizations. The luncheon format varies and may feature outstanding speakers, panel discussions or open forum discussions on topics relevant to management within the legal industry. At these meetings members learn how to respond to a changing work force, how to keep costs down and profits up, and how to make the best use of today's technology while moving toward the future.

Regional and national conferences offer educational session presented by well-known consultants and experts. These events serve to strengthen the professional skills of the administrator as well as give the opportunity to meet and work with other members of the legal management profession.
